Released Chapters: The Khalai Executor and the Voice

Before the Dark Voice was known to me, Survivors featured a mysterious character that spoke to the player throughout the campaign. During the dialogue screen it's called the Warped Voice.

As implied this entity is never known to the player fully -- what it is, and why it is doing what it is doing. What was important is that it knows what the player's character needs and wants offering them for a price.

The Khalai Executor (player's character or player's POV character), was drawn to the offers of this Voice secretly, while his ally Zergund grew to suspect the Khalai Executor to have taken a path that will somehow in the end have dire consequences.

As the Voice offered solutions to the obstacles laid along the path of the Auxiliary Legion, it has since tried to seduce the Khalai Executor to the meaning of having great powers.

During the final act, when the Auxiliary Legion had finally reached one of the last remaining provinces housing thousands of Khalai refugees facing doom at the sight of countless Zerg, the Voice offers the Khalai Executor the ultimate form of seduction.

Combining justification for the potential costs, the glory of self-sacrifice, salvation for the refugees, and the promise of untold powers, the Voice leaves the Khalai Executor to decide whether to restore all shards to the obelisks or accept the responsibility for the coming end of his people.

Like a knife to his throat, the offer seemed to be the only choice, but somehow at some point, the Khalai Executor was able to turn things around, showing us that it was him using the Voice instead.

Whether this is true or not is yet to be revealed.
